A contractor can pay it all as wages, or pay part as contributions to bona fide benefit plans for the worker, as long as the two add up to at least $79.64. LEO doesn't publish a base and fringe split, so this page doesn't invent one.

- A contract keeps the rates LEO determined for it, unless it isn't awarded or started within 90 days, when LEO redetermines them (MCL 408.1103).

Davis-Bacon boilermaker rate in St. Joseph County
Federally funded or assisted construction here uses the U.S. Department of Labor's wage determinations. Contracts that already require Davis-Bacon rates are exempt from Michigan's Act, so a Davis-Bacon job uses the federal rate (MCL 408.1102(1)).
For building work, the matching Davis-Bacon classification is BOILERMAKER at $81.14 ($43.50 base + $37.64 fringe), from MI20260152 modification 2, published May 18, 2026, rate BOIL0169-002. Against LEO's $79.64: The Davis-Bacon rate is $1.50 an hour higher. Note: the state prints one rate with fringes included, so only totals are compared.
